CARNEY'S GYM
CrossFit Missoula
Carney’s Gym is home to CrossFit Missoula. Carney’s Gym became a CrossFit Affiliate in 2006, and at that time was the only CrossFit Affiliate in Montana. Montana now boasts eight official CrossFit Affiliates!
Carney’s Gym is a private, bare bones, athletic training facility, located in Missoula, Montana, where the training is rigorous, and your fitness results are guaranteed.
Our CrossFit program uses functional exercises to produce the greatest results. Functional exercises are based on movements found in your daily life – squat, lift, run, throw, etc.
Unlike other gyms and fitness centers, we teach you to move your self, not machines.
Our preferred training tools are barbells, dumbbells, still rings, high bars, medicine balls, plyo-boxes, and our own bodies.
We train to run, jump, throw, defend, lift, carry, and climb. We train to optimize performance in life, and sport.
Daniel Carney is the owner and head trainer of Carney's Gym. Daniel is a certified CrossFit Trainer, and Personal Defense Readiness Coach.

Steps to training at Carney's Gym:
Every time you come to train at Carney’s Gym you will be coached. Unlike most gyms in Missoula, Montana, we require that you work with a personal trainer. We believe that quality coaching gets better results and prevents injury better than the “open gym” model.
Before joining one of our CrossFit classes, you must first schedule three, one-hour private training sessions, or what we call Basic Training.
These sessions are used to familiarize you with the equipment, movements, and stimulus unique to the CrossFit Missoula program at Carney’s Gym.
Following Basic Training, you will be allowed to join any one of our available CrossFit group classes.
To maintain the highest quality of training possible, we limit class registration to 10 members. Our goal is to deliver the personal attention of a private training session within the group environment.
Joining one of our fitness classes has many benefits, including camaraderie, support, motivation, and accountability. You are more likely to achieve the results you desire, and less likely to miss training days, when others are counting on you.
What is CrossFit?
"CrossFit is the principle strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
The CrossFit program delivers a fitness that is by design broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is in not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and on average, punish the specialist.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind. Terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders, and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. We scale load and intensity. We don’t change programs."
